Our Client is a leading marketer of "English as a Second Language" educational products and other products to the Hispanic market. Through TV commercials on Spanish speaking stations in the US they market their products to institutional customers (e.g., hotel chains with Hispanic employees) and through wholesale distributors in Latin America.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager is responsible for helping to oversee the general accounting of the company. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Assistant Controller in performing his/her duties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Controller and Assistant Controller in preparing the monthly financial package, including analysis of variances from budget and significant fluctuations.
• Preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules, including comments to support the above analyses.
• Perform ad hoc analyses for special projects.
• Supervise staff accountants.

• Prospective candidates will have an undergraduate accounting or business degree and be a certified public accountant.
• Prospective candidates will possess exceptional financial and accounting skills, including a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
• International tax and complex organizational structures experience would be a big plus.
• A combination of Big Four and industry experience is highly preferred.
• The candidate should have a track record of successful completion of objectives and a trend of handling progressively higher levels of responsibilities.
• The candidate should be very proficient with systems, in particular, with excel and other Microsoft Office programs (Word, Access, Powerpoint). Experience with a sophisticated accounting system is also highly preferred.
• The candidate should have experience supervising staff and a track record of developing their capabilities.
• The candidate must have strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with personnel across the organization, build trust, and be a team player.
• Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
