Nelson E. (Nick) Brestoff
Nelson E. (Nick) Brestoff, M.S., J.D.-- joins Stonefield Josephson’s Valuation, Litigation,
Forensic and Advisory Services group after 34 years of civil litigation work. Possessing
substantial expertise handling litigation cases involving breach of contract, fiduciary duty and
environmental, employment, fraud insurance coverage, professional liability, real estate, trade
secrets and unfair competition law, Nick brings a unique area of specialization to the firm.
Nick’s work at Stonefield Josephson will focus upon economic damages, discovery of
electronically stored information and fraud investigations. He also serves on mock arbitration
panels. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from UCLA and
his Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering Science from the California Institute of
Technology, Nick went on to obtain his J.D. from USC, where he was also a member of the law
review.
Some of Nick’s most notable achievements include winning Little v. Auto Stiegler Inc. (2003)
29 Cal. 4th 1604, a landmark case decided by the California Supreme Court on employment
arbitration agreements, as well as City Solutions, Inc. v. Clear Channel Communications, Inc.,
365 F.3d 835 - 9th Cir. (2004), which resulted in upholding a $9.8 million jury verdict for fraud
and unfair competition. Nick is also the recipient of the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell “AV”
rating for competence and ethics.
