James K. Ward
Jim Ward is a Director of the Stonefield Josephson Valuation, Litigation & Forensic Group. Jim is both a CPA and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA). He specializes in the areas of corporate restructurings, insolvency, business bankruptcy and commercial litigation. His practice also includes merger and acquisition assignments, primarily for buyers, lenders and other investors. Jim has over 20 years of experience assisting clients and counsel involved in business problems, disputes and litigation. He provides clients with an important blend of technical expertise and a practical knowledge of the real world. Jim has assisted clients in negotiations and settlement discussions, and has provided deposition and trial testimony.
Jim's experience includes consultation with counsel and management on a wide variety of accounting, financial and business issues. These engagements included lost profits and damage analysis; fraud investigations; financial analysis of companies, divisions and product lines; incremental cost analysis; profitability studies; pricing studies; financial forecasting; damage exposure analysis; specialized accounting issues; intellectual property valuation, and more. These issues have arisen in matters involving mergers and acquisitions; environmental actions, breach of contract claims, construction claims, dealer/distributor termination actions, fraud investigations, intellectual property disputes, lender liability actions, and workout situations, among others. He has particularly extensive experience in many industries including gaming, commercial and consumer finance, entertainment, consumer electronics, manufacturing, distribution, government contracting, food processing, farming, the dairy industry, and real estate syndication.
Prior to joining Stonefield Josephson, Jim was a director in the
Forensic Accounting Group of LECG, LLC. He was also a partner in
Parks, Palmer, Turner & Yemenidjian, LLP, where he was responsible
for the accounting and auditing, litigation support and business
reorganization practices. Jim's non-CPA experience includes serving
as the vice president and chief financial officer of a major steel
distribution company. He has also served as a director and chairman
of the Audit Committee of a nationally recognized and publicly traded
manufacturing company. As part of his practice, Jim has served in
various senior executive roles in debtor operations, including president
and chief executive officer of a franchiser operating a seventy-five
store chain, Insolvency Consultant to a $1 billion dairy company,
insolvency consultant to a nationally recognized security services
company, administrator of a significant west coast real estate investment
company, and operating officer of a major food processing company.
